About SHIRP
The Saskatchewan Health Information Resources Partnership provides access to a comprehensive suite of online health information resources for all health practitioners in Saskatchewan. Practice areas include medicine, nursing, pharmacy, psychology, and therapy. The SHIRP digital library includes:
- 13 Medical and Interdisciplinary Health Databases
- Over 6,000 Full text Journals
- 144 Full text Books
- 3 Clinical Decision Support Tools
All of the resources available on the SHIRP website are also available through the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region Library intranet site; the Saskatoon Health Region Library intranet site; The University of Saskatchewan Library website; The University of Regina website; and the SIAST library website. These libraries have purchased additional resources for their patrons as well.
SHIRP's Mandate:
- To provide province-wide access to an electronic library of health care resources to support the education, evidence-based practice, and research needs of Saskatchewan’s health care practitioners, health sciences post-secondary students, and health-related provincial government departments.
SHIRP is staffed by two librarians and a Programmer/Analyst. For more information about SHIRP's future goal and plans please see our strategic plan.
Training
SHIRP provides free training for all health care practitioners in Saskatchewan. Each session is planned with the specific needs of the group in mind. Topics covered can range from an introductory demonstration on accessing the SHIRP resources, to advanced training in retrieving relevant material.
