Clinical Practice Guidelines

Clinical Practice Guidelines for Nurses in Primary Care was compiled for nurses working in nursing stations and treatment health centres located in semi-isolated and isolated First Nations and Inuit communities.

CMA Infobase contains references to guidelines "produced or endorsed in Canada by a national, provincial/territorial or regional medical or health organization, professional society, government agency or expert panel". Infobase is maintained by the Canadian Medical Association. Some guideline are are available in both French and English.

National Guidelines Clearing House is sponsered by the Agency for Healthcare Research. It provides a comprehensive list of guidelines for a number of topic areas.

Registered Nurses Association of Ontario Nursing Best Practice Guidelines includes clinical practice guidelines and healthy work environment best practice guidelines. Implementation resources are also available.

MHCC Seniors Guidelines created by Mental Health Commission of Canada and provides guidelines for comprehensive mental health services for older adults in Canada

Policies and Procedures for Saskatchewan Health Care Practitioners

Acquired Brain Injury Partnership Project Guidelines "defines the criteria for professional practice for Acquired Brain Injury Partnership Project Services in Saskatchewan to ensure that the quality of service is consistencly delivered and continuously improved."  These guidelines reflect goals and strategies from Acquired Brain Injury: A Strategy for Services.

Alcohol and Drug Guidelines define the criteria for professional practice for Alcohol and Drug Services in Saskatchewan.

Ambulance (Road) Fees establishes maximum rates to be charged by ambulance services within Saskatchewan and for out of province residents.

Blood Shortage Management Plan has policies and procedures consistent with the National Plan for the Management of Shortages of Labile Blood Components.  This tool kit will help hospitals and health regions develop a contingency plan for managing blood shortages.

Infection Control Manual contains information for daycare providers on how to control infection in their settings.

Electronic Health Library of BC(e-HLbc) provides library services to publicly funded BC post-secondary institutions providing health education, the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, the BC Ministry of Health, the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development, all BC Health Authorities, and the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Manitoba's Health Information and Knowledge Network (MHIKNET) provides mediated library services for staff of Manitoba Health, staff of participating Regional Health Authorities, and physicians in Manitoba.

NurseOne.ca is a national health informaition portal for nurses (registration required to access the portal). Nurses caring for First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis clients can register to access additional resources on NurseOne by e-mailing their full name, professional title, e-mail address and province or territory of practice to ONS_FNIH_PORT@hc-sc.gc.ca.

OneHealth.ca is a national health portal dedicated to providing information and services to health care professionals working in First Nations communities (registration required to access the portal).

Rx for Change is a searchable database that provides current research information on intervention strategies used to alter behaviours of health technology prescribing, practice, and use. 

Saskatchewan Drug Information Services offers information on several aspects of drug therapy such as adverse reaction/side efefcts, compounding problems, drug availability, drug compatibility/instability, drug dosages/administration, drug identification (Canadian, foreign), etc.
